Families from Coimbra

Luisa was a single mother of 3 kids from Cabo Verde. They were members of the church but always bordered the line of being active and less active so we would work with them to help them stay strong in the gospel. We had wonderful family nights with them with all sorts of fun activities to help them more fully understand gospel principles. Lia was in young womens and she was wonderful but super shy. Tiago was baptized recently and Mimi (Miram) was the cutest little girl. She was super shy but we struck up a friendship and she always wanted to be by my side.

One of my favorite memories with this family is when we made service boats. We made boats out of cereal boxes and every time they did an act of service they had to write it on a piece of paper and put it in the boat. They had the time of their lives. Another really fun thing about Luisa is that she loved to win games. Every time we played games she wouldn't let her kids win just to be nice she would trash talk and play to win. It was always so much fun to play with them.
They also would make food for us. They loved to make us sandwiches with Duo (like Nutella) in the middle. Luisa was a very good cook as well my first time eating Bacalhau (Cod Fish) was at their house. When Mimi had her birthday they really wanted us to come to the party and it was quite the festa, lots of food, desserts, and fun.
Rosa and Juliana: I love these ladies. They were the people I sat by my first Sunday in the country. I fell asleep cause I was so tired and really couldn't understand a whole lot of what was going on and I felt so embarrassed. Juliana just laughed and said no worries I thought that you were just reading your scriptures. Juliana spoke English really well so she was nice to help me with my Portuguese. Juliana loved cats and she knew that I did not so we were always joking around and teasing each other about that. Another really funny thing is that Juliana thought that I looked like Mini Mouse.
Vera and Celene: Vera also spoke English very well and she was a great help to me in learning and understanding Portuguese. Vera also helped us a lot with missionary work. We had some great lessons with this family.
